If you've already made the fabulous decision to put artificial turf in your garden or terrace, here are a few tips.

Keep them in mind when installing and check out some of these sample cases.

It turns any space into a warm and pleasant environment to enjoy it to the maximum in solitude or in the company of friends and family.

 

Condition of the terrain:

1.-At present there is natural grass.

In this case it would be advisable to remove the natural grass and place a 5cm thick gravel base.

The synthetic turf will be laid on this base.

If there is automatic irrigation, there is no problem in leaving it, even sometimes serve to cool the artificial turf.

Sprinkler irrigation can also be converted to drip irrigation for plants.

2.- The land is on earth: In the same way, it is recommended to make the gravel base mentioned in the previous case in order to place the artificial grass.

Tips for preparing and managing the surface:

1.- Apply a contact or selective herbicide before preparing the gravel base to finish removing the remaining particles after the topsoil has been removed.

Please remember to use appropriate protection when applying this substance.

Once the artificial turfIt is advisable to spray it with herbicide once or twice a year during the rainy season.

This keeps weed sprouts from germinating particles of animal droppings or windblown seeds at bay.

2.- The soil is clayey or currently has poor drainage and waterlogging.

We recommend installing or staking out the drainage system with drainage pipe before installing the artificial turf.

 
3.- The house is new and the land is on the ground.

There are many cases in which the land destined for the landscaped area of new homes is filled in with leftover earth and rubble from the construction site.

This aspect should be taken into account when thinking about placing a thicker gravel base to avoid significant unevenness and settlement of the ground in the future.

It is also advisable to check and ensure that the drainage system is adequate before installing artificial grass.

 
4.- A swimming pool has been installed and artificial grass will be placed around it.

As in the previous step, it is usual that the ground after a pool has been installed will settle a few centimetres more in the future.

We recommend waiting 6 months to 1 year before installing the paving or laying it higher than desired with respect to the edges of the pool to compensate for the settling of the ground.

 
Important Note: The use of weed netting or geotextile to prevent weeds or for the purpose of protecting the artificial turf is optional.

It is advisable to place a 4mm-5mm drainage mesh special for laying artificial turf in attics or terraces

This thickness is sufficient to facilitate the flow of water into the drain under the artificial turf.l.

In this way, you also benefit from the fact that the screed dries much faster than if it is laid directly on the floor.

Additional note for Penthouses and Terraces

 
1.- In the case of attics and terraces, it is recommended to place synthetic turf that carries little sand load or check the weight capacity of the attic floor with the builder to avoid future problems.
 
2.- Please do not paste the artificial turf If you do so, believe us that you will suffer a lot when you want to remove it.

If you want to secure the flooring in some way to the floor, use silicone on some points of the surface such as corners and edges.

 
3.- Placing some sand on the artificial turf is optional for mixed types of artificial turf that are made of blends of mono-filament or fibrillated fibres and nylon-polyamide-PP infill-crimped.

The sand will support the fibers, limit static and high temperatures.
