Tips for the application of herbicide on the installation of artificial grass.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for using the herbicide when preparing the ground before installing artificial turf

In this post, we list some recommendations for the use of artificial grass herbicides in gardens and how to apply it also in its maintenance.

1. Clear the land and leave it in the ground.

2. Select the type of herbicide:

There are 2 types of herbicides that we can choose from in any garden centre, nursery or DIY shop.

Selective or contact herbicide and total herbicide

The difference is that the selective herbicide acts only on the points (plants, weeds, etc.) where it is applied while the total herbicide can have effects within a larger radius when applied.

If your garden has plants among which the artificial turfIf, on the other hand, your garden is a new construction and will only be paved with this type of paving, you can use the total variant.

3. Apply herbicide artificial grass on the soil before laying the geotextile mesh and the gravel base.

It can also be placed above the gravel base.
Remember this is a toxic product, when you are installing the artificial grass, you run the risk of being in contact and inhaling it.

The use of Lime or Salt

4.There are alternatives to total or selective herbicides, we have seen that some companies suggest the use of lime or salt.

If your idea is to combine the synthetic turf with plants and landscapingIn addition, these alternatives leave the soil "sterile" and can penetrate up to 30 cm deep.

5.Remember to use safety equipment, specifically gloves and masks.
