Tips on artificial grass in newly built pools

If you are thinking about artificial turf around swimming pools, this post will help you clear up some doubts.

In these times, our terraces and gardens are often overhauled.

Many of the works that are often carried out are the pools.

When building a pool, the land is excavated for both the pool and the treatment plant.

It is important to make sure that the ground is compacted again once the pool is built and installed.

Otherwise, after a short time, you will see the ground settling mainly around the pool and creating a slope or step.

It is sometimes complicated by the passage of the pipes, and if too much pressure is applied, it can cause mismatches in the pipe network and possible leaks.

When installing the artificial turf and prepare the ground with the newly built gravel base of the pool, you can notice the step or unevenness soon after because of what we have explained above.

That is why we advise our clients, once the pool is installed, to wait for a period of at least 6 months to 1 year where the ground that has been excavated can settle after several months of winter and summer.

To undertake all the works in a short period of time

If your intention is to undertake all the works in a short period of time, i.e. swimming pools and artificial grass, outdoor flooring, porches, pergolas...etc,

Then we recommend that you prepare the ground with a concrete slab at least 10cm thick with corresponding drops and drains.

This is the only situation in which we recommend this soil preparation with a screed, for all other cases such as gardens o terrace and penthousesYou can see the recommendations in other notes of this blog.

Other options besides a floor with drops or drains, can be the construction of a totally flat porous pavement (without drops).

If your land is clayey, it is recommended that you make a drainage system that evacuates the water to the sewage system of your home or directly to the public network.
